Viva Las Vegas

Hey we are back from our trip to Las Vegas. It was a great trip, we learned some fun new things that we hope to share with all of you. And of course we did some shopping for the store. You need to start coming in often and checking out all the new things that are arriving. With Gas prices as high as they are it makes sense to shop local, we strive to keep our prices as low as possible, keeping up with the latest and newest trends and of course we have the great service that you are getting accustomed to.
Guess What! I won lunch with Lisa Bearnson, Ali Edwards and Becky Higgins. It was awesome. They are all so nice and very friendly, regular people. It was a very small intimate group and we just sat and ate and chatted. Ali's husband was there as well, they talked to me about their son that has autism. As some of you know I worked in Deaf Ed and Special Ed before I opened the store, so I was very interested in their work with him. Lisa Bearnson is hysterical, her plane was delayed so she was late getting there and she talked a mile a minute about everything. Becky Higgins is very quite and sweet. As I said they were very open to all of us there. We also saw Tim Holtz, Stacy Julian, Stacy Croninger, Sara Neuman and Paulette Jarvey just to name a few. Oh and Cate did see an Elvis impersonator! Deseree went to see Carrot Top and thoroughly enjoyed that.

We did do some fun site seeing and of course went up to Utah to see the kids and grand baby. It was a nice trip, but it is good to be home.

Blog Birthday

Can you believe that it has almost been a year since Sam started our Blog? That's right we started it when we got back from Memory Trends last year. I know that I don't have the panache that Sam has but taking my limitations into account, let me know what you think of our blog. Tell me what you like, don't like and what you would like to see more of. I am only here to serve you.
Speaking of serving you and Memory Trends; We are leaving for the trade show next week and I would like to know what things that you are specifically looking for. Of course we will be seeing, learning and getting the latest in the industry. However you are the purpose for us going so let us know.
And don't stop shopping while I am gone, it stresses the help out when they have slow days. Plus we need to make room for all the new stuff. Maybe you can talk them into a sale.

Manufactures rethinking the big box store

FYI: I just received an update from the crafting industry trade magazine stating that many manufactures are rethinking there affiliations with the big box stores i.e. Wal-mart, etc. These stores decide at the last minute that they don't want a big quantity of items ordered and then the manufacturers are stuck with the inventory. Some Wal-mart and Target stores are getting rid of their sewing, scrapbooking and craft areas. Word is that many manufacturers are not going to be selling to the BBS any more, only to independents. That's us. We are an independent store and thus we sometimes get better deals and sometimes get the shaft. But it looks like things are going to be going our way.
