Elder Purdy

Yes thats right, Sam is now in the mission field and is Elder Purdy for the next 2 years. I have recieved my first letter and it is typical Sam. I have his address here at the store if any one is interested. He made a deal with me, that if anyone writes to him they get an extra punch on their frequent scrapper card. He's always thinking.

Stealing Home Plate

American Crafts loves being all matchy matchy. Part of their Simply Chic line are these adorable metal picture plates. Each one measures just around 1 1/4 " by 3/4."

We all know that metal embellishments have the tendency of making projects bulky and heavy. But not these! They are so thin that they add only a tiny little bit more bulk than a cardstock sticker. What's even more remarkable is that these tiles are sturdy enough to go on any project and not get bent.

Each one of these embellishments features an image with a matching word. Chances are you can find one to fit whatever theme you need. Some words that aren't shown here include easter, camping, harvest, theater, baby, and winter. If you can't find ANY that you can use (and that's a big feat right there!) then just flip them over. The smooth back on each tile has the same vibrant color that the front has. Use them either as a color block or use the American Crafts Slickwriters to design your own!

Next time you are in the store I really suggest you check these out. They are sold individually for only 75 cents a piece!

Here is an example of how I used one on my pages. FYI, the center of the layout is cut off. Our poor lil' scanner can't handle 12x12" pages, and I wasn't about to try stitching them together online! I tried to make these pages look like a gameboard, and I used one of the picture plates as the "Home" to my board. But I'm sure you could figure it out.
The rest of the paper used is also American Crafts, Simply Chic. We currently have it in stock, and I feel like its a great line to just pick up. I like having a couple matching lines lying around when I work. That way when I get stuck I can just grab a pile and start working.

That's it from me! I hope you found this useful... and enjoyable. Keep being fabulous and don't forget our sale tomorow!

Much Love,
Sam

Boo!

Hey Everyone!

In case you didn't know, I'll be leaving on a mission for my church on monday. This will be a two year adventure in the rockies! As sad as I am to leave, I want to go out with a bang! What better way to do that than with a sale?

Friday, all day long there will be a 10% off sale. In addition to this, croppers will get an additional 5% off their purchases. For the math impaired, that brings us up to 15%! I persoanlly think that's a pretty awesome deal, but, believe it or not, it gets better. All participants at crops and classes will recieve 5% off your total purchase, not including the crop or class fee of course.

If you aren't sure when you'll get out to a crop may I suggest our SPOOK-TACULAR Crop? Call the store now to reserve your spot for the 27th. Besides the usual creative atmosphere, and the wondeful company you'll get to keep, we'll be giving away a ton of prizes! Want to earn more raffel tickets to throw in the cauldron? Come in costume and bring a friend! We'll even provide food. There is no reason for you not to be there.

And as long as you are getting into the Halloween Spirit, come check out our Ghoulish supplies! I'm a big fan of Crafty Secrets' vintage inspired stickers. We have them in a bunch of themes, but the Halloween ones are my favorite. Also keep a lookout for the complete Halloween line from Heidi Grace! It should be arriving very shortly.

Keep it real,
Sam

New Die Cut Shapes

We just got a delivery from Accucut! I thought I'd share it with you right away. As you probably know, Accucut is the company that created our diecut machine. We just got in the mini-calendar set.
This set contains one shape for each month. Some quick math shows us that there are 12 new shapes. I've scanned each one so you can see it. My personal favorites? I love the November Leaf and the May Flower!

As always, the die cut machine is avaliable to you for a very small fee. Come in and check it out if you haven't. It's tons of fun and makes die cuts easy!

The Lowdown from the Show...down. Brought to you by Sam.

Welcome, welcome! Here is the first scrapblog for Purdy's Scrapbook Place. I'm tickled pink to be able to bring you our first post. Please check back often and read what's up. We'll try to bring you news about our store, reviews of our favorite products, and occasionally some juicy details from our own personal lives... if you're lucky.

First off, let me fill you in on the MemoryTrends trade show in Las Vegas. It's a week long event full of awesome seminars and a classes, and finished off with three
exhilarating days shopping on in the show room. This event gave us a bunch of neat ideas for promotions in our store... so look forward to fun sales and make-n-takes in the near future. Want a sneak peek of what may be coming? I suppose I can indulge you, and can give you a few... but don't tell the boss. How do you feel about card swaps and discounts for scrappers who attend classes and crops? I know I'm excited!

The floor show was jammed-packed with awesome new lines, along with some oldies (but goodies). One of my favorite gems we came across was a company called Mermaid Tears (http://mermaidtears.net/). I was instantly impressed with their name (for proof of my affinity for mermaids... check this out). Besides that, their product blew me away. Expect to see a few of the sets pictured below, and some variations of that theme coming into the store. These brass embellishments easily attach in your scrapbooks with a glue dot. The corresponding gem attaches just as easily - though it could be used as a separate embellishment completely! In addition we'll be carrying their paper flowers - blinged out with authentic Swarovski crystals - and tassel tubes. What's a tassel tube, you ask? The easiest, most fabulous way to keep a bunch of ribbon together, I say!

You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a scrapbooking celebrity! (Please pardon my use of such a gross idiom.) Besides bumping into such big leaguers as Heidi Swapp, Rob and Bob, and my personal fav Mrs. Grossman, we were able to meet with Karen Foster. By this time of the day I think everyone was falling a sleep and aching at every joint - but she was very polite, friendly, and smiling. And for those out there waiting to hear what kind of goodies you may be getting you hands on in the near future, I just might say that word of the street is that Madame Foster just may have autographed and donated some gear. But you didn't hear that from me!

Another star we met was the Scrapbook Diva herself, Danielle Forsgren! She, most definitely, falls in to the category of Completely Fabulous (falling in to the ranks with such favorites as Maggie Smith, Bernadette Peters, and Bea Arthur)! My first encounter with her was a class I took (appropriately called Diva Las Vegas) where she coupled with Mermaid Tears' Melisa Sanchez. Here I was able to use a patterned paper named Thanksgiving Leopard. Upon further discovery, I learned that she in fact marketed Leopard print paper for each month of the year in two different styles! That's hardcore right there, bring the total up to 24! In addition she creates all sorts of remarkable scrapper bling. Please note the fabulous tiara-style headband that I purchased for my mother. That's right, I'm not only handsome and humble, but extremely thoughtful and generous.
Danielle gets even more fabulous, though. She has a weekly radio show focusing on scrapbooking and the industries finest. You want more? She also became a little bit of a personal idol when a bit of research revealed a list of Theatre roles under her belt - musicals no less! And these are not just little community shows, these are the real deal! She rounds out her resume with being a great spokesperson for self-esteem with her motto - Be bold, different, and always kind!

All in all we jhad a wonderful time, and ordered fabulous product from these companies: Stampin' Station, SRM, Karen Foster, Creative Impressions, Crate Paper, Wube Prints, Croppin Glue, Paper Patch, We R Memory Keepers, My Sentiments Exactly, Mermaid Tears, American Crafts, Fiskars... and MORE!

Now I would be doing my Mother SLASH Boss an injustice if I represented her without taking into account her seemingly obsessive, but compartatively normal, love of her grand-bebe. Little Marissa is now 14 months, and is reminiscent of Cindy Lou Who. So, I'm honored to be presenting, for her first ever showing, on the Purdy's Scrapbook Place scrapblog, my favorite little baked potato and yours! Marissa Purdy!

Thank you so much for spending your time reading this, and we hope to see you in our store soon! As always, we love to hear from you and see what projects you have been up to!

Much Love,
Sam
