These are the last days!

These are the last days Only for the store. I will still live in Oswego and still continue to scrapbook. I just need to be able to travel to see my kids and my husband is thrilled that I will be fixing dinner once in awhile.( not every day mind you) Our last official day is Thurs. the 31st of January. Everything is 40% off now and there are a lot of fixtures and displays for sale as well.
I will still be ordering a few items such as the School papers since I have the licensing for these. If there is anything that I can do for you please let me know. I will maintain my blog and email and try with my website. Thanks for everything!

My most Excellent adventure

Guess what I got to do! Jeff and I went to a built Ford tough event of the PBR, that's right I got to go to the Professional Bull Riding! It was in Albany at the Times Union arena on Saturday. It was so fun! All the top Bulls and riders were there. I was like the paparazzi running around with my camera. Alas the batteries died in my camera and Jeff ran up and down the street trying to find a store that sold batteries, then I remembered I had some in the car, they lasted for most of the time. I got my picture taken with Guillermie Marche!!! so cool. I am a true groupie.

Customer appreciation

thanks to all those that came to our 2nd customer appreciation day on Friday the 11th. It was a great event. Thanks Robin for teaching us how to make the adorable "Altoid tin" albums. Thanks to all those that brought treats and snacks for all of us and thanks to all those kind words of encouragement. I understand that not all the invitations got delivered in a timely manner and I apologize for that.

It is True

Yes it is true. The rumor that Purdy's Scrapbook Place is closing has been floating around all month. Well there is a reason for that, we are closing the store at the end of Jan. We are very sad about this, but we are excited at the same time. I have always stated that I have the best customers, that is not just a business statement it is a true statement from my heart. However as much as I enjoy and love my customers (my friends) I love and want to enjoy my family a bit more. I will be getting a new grand baby in May, Deseree has moved to Denver and Sam will be finishing his mission in October. Joe is a junior and I have hardly been to any of his lacrosse games. I feel like it is time to be a wife, mother and grandmother first and foremost. So something had to give so that was the store. I will stay in the scrapbook industry as I will be sales rep for all of upstate NY in scrapbook and gifts. I will still continue to do commission work and will still be able to make special orders for you. Keep in touch through email, blog, or website.
Stop in and take advantage of the closing sales. everything is 25% off and All the racks and fixtures are for sale for that matter so is the store if you would like a fun adventure.

FYI

I read this article and thought that you may interested.
"I love scrapbooking. I cherish my scrapbooks not because of how cute they are when they are done but because they hold my life inside them. Who I am, were I have been and who my children and grandchildren are. Nothing is more important than that. My hope is to bring archiving to the scrapbooking world in a way that has never been presented to the industry before. To educate the lay person and retail establishment alike, to make archiving truly matter in the scrapbooking world.

You my be asking what is archiving? What does it really mean? Isn't this just for museums and libraries? Every scrapbooker out there needs to archive their completed books. So let’s start with what archiving isn't. It is not meant to be cute or pretty. A scrapbook is a very beautiful work of art all by itself. Archiving does not enhance the beauty of your already completed scrap book. Archiving is solely meant to protect and preserve this beautiful work of art and family heirloom for several generations to come.

Archiving is a process of caring for a valued item so that the environment will not destroy it. The Library of Congress and The American Archives and American Archival Association have provided valuable assistance in the research needed to complete the rigorous demands that Memories Never Lost has set for the products we offer.

I took this valuable information I obtained in the USA and went one step further. I wanted to know that other nations are doing in the areas of archiving and preservation. In Australia for instance, I learned that the use of metal corners on archival boxes has been banned because of possible rust and fumes emitted by the paint applied to the metal. American standards still allow for this type of archival box. However, I refuse to carry metal trimmed boxes. As a matter of fact, I do not stock any archival boxes at this time because I cannot find ones that suit the needs of scrapbookers or offer the high standards I have set for their function and durability.

My 100% cotton archival gloves are designed for handling all photos and paper. For years archivist have used these when handling books, maps, and other valuable documents and photos. Our company is the first to bring these to the scrapbooker or craft person. I realize white gloves are boring to wear so I decorated the cuffs with cotton trims and other acid-free embellishments. The gloves look cute and in no way impede the function of providing protection from finger oils that may be transferred to the paper or photos." By Jaquelyn Romero of Memories never lost.
